Dance Classes
Keystone Ballet Academy offers classical ballet, tap and jazz classes. Our ballet technique training is based on Vaganova technique. We use a progressive syllabus, which allows every student to learn the fundamentals of classical dance, focusing on technique, grace, and strength while they improve at their own pace. All students learn proper technique in a positive and fun environment with easy-to-understand class instruction and individual corrective guidance.
Our tap and jazz classes are Broadway/Theater style allowing students to perform expressive dance numbers in our annual Spring Dance Concert..
Kinder-Barre (ages 4-kindergarten)
Ballet classes for ages 4-5 introduce your child to the world of dance. The class combines fun and foundational skill-building in a highly motivated setting. Children participate in a floor warm-up and stretch followed by basic technique drills. Natural movements in skipping, hopping and galloping help to develop their coordination. Kinder-Barre classes foster social skills, discipline, and creativity, as young dancers interact with their peers and follow instructions from their teacher

Pointe
Dancing in pointe shoes is the dream and goal of many students in ballet class. Dancing on pointe is quite different than dancing in flat ballet shoes. With proper training, correctly fitted pointe shoes, and the guidance and care of an experienced ballet teacher, we hope to make it a well-remembered and cherished experience.
Dancing on pointe must be done following certain criteria because it carries risk of injuries. We strive to make sure our students dance safely on pointe by following strict criteria, including age, years of ballet training, and a test for strength in the legs and torso that assesses readiness for pointe. Students learn proper care of their feet and toes and are required to tell us of any pain they are experiencing.

Tap (ages 11 & up)
Tap dancing is great for rhythm, timing and counting. It will improve balance and memorizing patterns. Tap classes are the perfect dance class to complement ballet.
All tap classes are taught in a progressive manner beginning with single tap sounds and advancing to two and three tap sounds. Students are taught the proper way to hold their legs and strike the floor. We teach a Jazz-Tap style which is used in musical theatre.
Students in Pre-Ballet or Level A1 ages 6-8 who wish to take a tap class are required to attend at least one ballet class per week.
Teen-Adult Students are welcome to drop-in or purchase a 5-class card. Teen-Adult Students must be signed up with a monthly tuition to participate in our Spring Dance Concert
We sell Capezio tap shoes that are required for the class, made of aluminum, that minimizes damage to our dance floor.
